Thank you Mr Won. According to my research, there are many types of pitcher plants around the world. Some live in North America while others (Tropical picher plants) live in Southeast Asia/Madagascar. All pitcher plants live in sunny and moist places, such as bogs and fens. The type of soil they live in has a low PH (acidic) and is poor in minerals. Their habitats are also poor in nitrogen.

Thanks Arthur for the post. What kind of habitat are the pitcher plants usually found in? Did you managed to read up about the type of soil?
Good job!

Pitcher plants can carry out photosynthesis as they have green leaves. However, they also need nutrients. But, the soil in the habitat that they live in is poor in nutrients and the nutrients absorbed by their roots are not sufficient. So, pitcher plants have to trap and eat insects in order to receive the necessary amount of nutrients.
